Choosing The Right Course and School

Have you ever go for what you are not intrigued to. If you have experience the aftermath before, then you would agree with me on this. This is simple, as everyone is interested in what he or she likes.

Applying the above to our subject, we can see that a candidate seeking for university admission is only intrigued to the course and institution he or she likes. Making a perfect choice on your school and course can go a long way to determine your admission. This will happen in the sense that you will have interest for it than what may have been chosen for you. So, in making plans for your Post-UTME and Screening, make sure you are going for what you like. This is very important because you may not be able to do a change of institution and course after the Post-UTME.

Proper Registration

Before now, you may have registered for your Post-UTME Screening exercise. A good number of candidates do this on cyber cafe. Yes, that's the preferred option to do your registration. Nevertheless, there's a popular adage that says that 'no man is above mistake', so these cafe agents are humans and are prone to mistakes. The story is good for candidates that are yet to register for the exercise, in that, they can do the needful when registering. But for those that have already sent their applications, you may not risk your admission because of improper registration. Now is not too late to go to the cyber cafe or school and review your registration.

Moreover, as we are now in a digitalized world, your improper submission of critical documents or details, may render to automatic disqualification of your application.

What's your Preparation?

After going through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examination, you may think it's finished there. As said earlier, Post-UTME is very critical to your college admission. You may have see off the JAMB UTME, but this is another big sea to cross. Nonetheless, do not be doubted, it's freaky easy, and you ought to complete the work you started.

When preparing for the examination, just do as if your admission lies on it. Study and work well to get it done. The work may seem easy because you have already written a big exam (JAMB), but do not look on the past, but rather focus on what lies in the future.

As a Post-UTME and Screening candidate, don't leave any stone unturned. Employ all the studying technique, read the past questions, and follow the scheme of the examination.

Take note of the five motivational P's

  1. Proper
  2. Preparation
  3. Prevent
  4. Poor
  5. Performance

In the other way, if you are a screening candidate, don't just sideline your books. In order not to be taken unawares, try to read one or two things and prepare for any impromptu test.

Examination/ Screening

The Post-UTME Screening and examination is the main thing here. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has given institutions the right to chose any of Screening or Examination to do their admission process. The former involves being screen of your documents by the institution's admission panel. In this there is no written test, as they will only require a physical examination of your documents.

In the other way, Examination is conducted by some institutions. They use this as a determiner of a candidate's admission by cumulating it with what he or she had in the JAMB UTME. Here, applicants are examined on four subjects which is same as the UTME subject combination. After the examination, a result is given. This result is averaged with the UTME score to determine the overall grade of the candidate for admission. A higher score increase your chances of getting admission, as such, Post-UTME candidates should put all fingers together and ensure good scores.

Admission Prerequisites

Gaining an admission into a college or university doesn't only involve reading and writing examination for the heck of it. Instead, they are one of the requirements for college admission, in that there are other important things to meet before being offered a provisional admission into your preferred course.

In the Nigerian university admission system, an applicant is evaluated by the requirements he has meet for admission into the programme. A few of these critical requirements include: First School Leaving Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate, JAMB Result, Birth certificate, Certificate of Origin, and other documents required for admission. These requirements are stated on the university admission portal.

Conclusively, after meeting the admission prerequisites and doing the screening proper, it's left now to wait for a provisional admission into your preferred course and institution.
